28/4/2017 – AOA Event Whitman Park Woodland Reserve

This involved a night walk through the park, a good opportunity to photograph native animals in the dark.  Above is a sugar glider.

The brush-tailed bettong, also known as the woylie, an extremely rare small marsupial that belongs to the genus Bettongia. It is endemic to Australia.  Because much of its habitat has been destroyed, they are quite difficult to see these days.

The southern brown bandicoot (Isoodon obesulus) is a short nosed bandicoot, a type of marsupial found mostly in southern Australia. It is also known as the quenda in South Western Australia.

 Another woylie looking for food.

A grey kangaroo getting into the picture.

The sugar gliders do not want to miss out.

Some of our members after the night walk.  Obviously, food was put down to feed the animals, and they are kept within vermin proof fences so that they are safe, so it isn’t quite the bush, but at least they are protected and many are breeding.

2/4/2017 – A Walk with Meet Up group Active Outdoor Aussies

Nice early morning photo at the Park entrance, relaxed kangaroos having a feed.  With woodland and wetland, the park offers plenty of opportunity for spotting a wide variety of birds.

Like ducks (this one did a photo bomb).

Or many waterbirds, although there are none here!

We did a lovely 11kms woodland walk and passed a few caves along the way.

This one, the house of the wild dogs.

Saw lots of amazing limestone structures, tripped over limestone rocks and knobs in the ground.

Witnessed spiders and other critters in the rocks.

Well we were on the Ghost House Walking Trail, so coming across the Ghost House wasn’t too much of a surprise.  Alas, only ruins.

1/3/2017 – Action Outdoors Association Weekly Walk

Having decided that I have to get really fit for my November Cape to Cape walk, I thought I would try to attend AOA’s weekly walks of about 10kms.

While on the walk, the clouds built up and presented a perfect photo opportunity, along with the newly blonde hair (that won’t last long).

Here are the clouds coming, later in the evening amazing lightning bolts threw down to earth, but of course I was well out of the way by then.  That’s all.

11/3/2017 – Another Fun Event with Action Outdoors Association

Event advertised – What better way to enjoy a Perth summer day than playing on the beautiful Swan River?

Firstly we were given a few tips on how to sail, but all very low key and “you’ll be right”.  Here we are sailing towards the city of Perth from South Perth.

Yes, I am enjoying myself, it is good to be out on the river again.

Another view of the city from the catamaran.

A fun, relaxing morning.
