24/06/2016 – Dales Gorge – Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool

Some information on the geology of the gorges.

From Circular Pool we walk back the other way along the gorge.  It is difficult to know when to take a photo as at every turn I am greeted by another great view.

The layers of rock are very evident in this picture.

Make of this what you will.  I am not really sure if it 100% natural or has had some human help to end up like this.  But I certainly wasn’t going to stand underneath it.

This is the Fortescue Falls, you can see people ahead of us already climbing up the rocks to follow the path upstream.

And finally we reach Fern Pool where some of the group have another swim, beautiful deep water and a refreshing waterfall.
