30/12/2014 – Giants Cave – Boranup Forest, WA   Margaret River Christmas/New Year Camp Part 7

This cave is found in the Boranup Forest, near Witchcliffe.  Giants cave is one of the largest and deepest caves on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge at 575 meters long and 86 meters deep. The Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, is a belt of granite and limestone.

A great opportunity to experiment with my new camera, which did a wonderful job of taking photoes in the dark.

But the best part of the whole experience was that this was a self guided tour, so we could have a good look around and really get the feel of what it would be like to just discover caves.

Intrepid cavers.

Access was rather tight in places.  And local smells weren’t always the best.  Lots of bats.

Stalactites and stalagmites.

And at last the end is in sight.
