WILDLIFE IN AND AROUND NAMBOUR

3/10/2013    Birds and Furry Things around Nambour

Rosies garden is a haven for birds and all manor of wildlife.

Kookaburra3[1]
Kookaburras live close by and can be heard morning and night, about 5pm they turn up waiting for their evening feed and Rose doesn’t disappoint them. Mince meat is usually the order of the day, and often cheeky butcher birds come along and steal some of the food.
Kookaburras1Close[1]Later on in the evening come the potaroos, small furry marsupials, not so easy to photograph, but always hungry.

Potaroo3[1]The one below looks as if it has a joey in its pouch, but hard to tell.

Then of course there is the Bush Turkey, capable of destroying a garden in one day.

More Bush Turkey, "now where shall I scratch next?"

More Bush Turkey, “now where shall I scratch next?”

Last but not least, although these weren’t actually in Rose’s garden, she took me on a board walk through nearby wetlands and we saw these fiddler crabs popping out of their holes waving claws at us.
