WHALE WATCHING

8/09/2013  Whale Watching at Mooloolaba

Yippee, sister Rose has offered to take me whale watching at nearby Mooloolaba.  Seeing whales is something that I have wanted to do for ages and I am very excited to go.  We are booked into a morning trip and shouldn’t have to go very far out from shore as the whales go in quite close.

Look carefully, there is a whale tale!

Firstly, we came across two humpback whales swimming together, they were not very exciting, and extremely difficult to photograph, this is the best I could do, showing a tail just before it disappeared below the water.

Next we moved on to view a mother and baby, again, they were just swimming along minding their own business, no acrobatics or showing off.  Their size is incredible, and awe inspiring.

WhaleClose2This is the most whale that I could photograph!  A bit disappointing, but the whole experience was great and we did actually see a lot more of the whales, just not when I was ready with the camera.

This is the biggest thing that we saw all day, a massive container ship, full up, heading out to sea.

Thanks Rose for a great day.
