MELROSE TO QUORN

15/05/2013 Melrose to Quorn 65kms
A big day ahead if the weather is kind to us. Stopped in Wilmington, but were very disappointed with the place. Many houses and businesses were up for sale and there were no shops other than a small cafe, so after a quick Mars Bar we kept going.

We found a small creek cuting where we could shelter while having lunch, a bonus was the beautiful gum trees by the side of the road.

In Quorn we were lucky enough to be able to stay with Warmshowers host, Paul Keen, who runs Wallaby Tracks Tours. Paul let us use his facilities and gave us beds for two nights, thanks very much Paul. We were also treated to a ride in Paul’s old car, a 1928 Model A Ford (eat your heart out Lindsay!)

LIz and I went for a walk to Powell Gardens, were I saw my first Quandong Tree in full fruit.

On our walk we saw a beautiful old house with a quirky painting on the wall.

Look carefully at the windows, you will see they are painted on.

I had forgotten how beautiful the bush is around that area. I hope the rain doesn’t last too long. It has been cold and wet here today. Your daily accounts are interesting. Keep up the good spirits.

The countryside looks lovely. You seem to be making some good progress. Its great to be able to read about it all and see the sights with you.
