Platypus Watching Geeveston

I am very keen to spot a Platypus in the wild, previously I have only seen them in captivity. I spent a long time quietly watching this creek where they are renowned for appearing, finally some locals came past walking their dog and kindly watched with me until they spotted one.  Once you know what you are looking out for, it is much easier.

Still watching, but do you see the ripple just above the centre of the photo.

And there he is!!!!   They don’t leave the water very often, and are the same colour of the water, so hard to get a good photo.

At least you can make out the shape in this one.

I cropped and enlarged this one and it is the best I can do, not the most exciting platypus photo but I saw him, and the scenery was magnificent.
